Hi Nikki,

If your puppy doesn't display the ticking now like the rest of his littermates, chance are he never will, although this could change when his adult coat comes in. :)

we recently bought a puppy that is a mixture of an Australian shepherd and a Blue tick hound. the puppy is completely tan with the physical features of the hound. He was the only one in the litter to look this way. the others had the tan spots over the eyes and the blue ticking. I think it is odd and was wondering if the coloring might come in later ( i dont mind his lack of coloring he is beautiful) just curious

Hi Yvette,

Your best option may be to locate a German Shepherd breeder in your area and ask them to take a look at your dog. There is a recessive gene that produces a longer coat, and some lines do have a problem with getting the ears to stand up. It's possible that this could be the case with your dog, but even if she turns out to be a mix as you originally expected, she sounds beautiful.

Thanks for visiting the site. :)

I adopted a dog from a local rescue group. She appears to look like a mix of German shepherd and golden retriever. She has long, thick fur. Big poofs of light golden fur off the backs of the tops of her back legs, feathers off the backs of her forelegs. She has, almost a mane, with a resemblance to a collie's. Her ears are large triangles but they flop down, don't stand up like a German shepherds. Someone who knows dog breeds (I don't) met her and stated a theory that she was a purebreed of a rare, old German shepherd. I can send you some pictures of her if it would help me get information about her. I'm just curious. My interest in dog breeds has been growing over the past few years. People ask me all the time what type of dog she is, she's very beautiful and gets attention anywhere we go. She's 75 pounds. Her fur is a mix of pale gold, medium gold, light brown, dark brown and even and almost black. Her markings make her look very much like a German shepherd. Her tail is long and fluffy, hanging down. Her nose and face are most like a German shepherd. I'd love to be able to tell people her breed if I knew what it was. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi Luis,

I wasn't able to find any information about this rare breed on the Internet, but a breeder used to run an add for them in the back of Dog World Magazine for many years. You might want to check to see if it's still running. Good luck in your search.

I need to get more information about a little dog that it looks like a OLD ENGLISH SHEPERD BUT VERY SMALL. I got some information but I misplace it the breed name is KYO LEO OR SOME LIKE THAT; it is really like a mixture of maltese and pekingnese.

Hi Juli,

Sorry, but I've never heard of this breed before. An Internet search didn't yield any useable results. I'd be interested to hear about where you first learned of it yourself. Maybe that would give me some clues for further searching. :)
