I agree with you, you get the best of both worlds with a Corgie. They're compact enough to make a great couch companion, but they are definitely sturdy. Add their wonderful intelligence, and you have a furry friend that's hard to beat. Thanks for visiting the site!

I have my Welsh Corgi shaved at the beginning of the summer. She loves it...so much cooler! By the time fall rolls around, her hair is back enough to keep her warm. This helps with the shedding tremendously!! She looks a little funny in the beginning, but it is well worth it.

I currently have my second and third Welsh Corgi and doubt I will ever own any other breed. They are so smart and have the sweetest personalities. They are small without being fragile...they can stand up to my 90 lb. Lab!

Hi Mary, welcome to the site. I got to spend a weekend with a Corgi once while I was on a dog show circuit. She was a real sweetie and slept in my bed in the hotel.

As for the shedding, try out the Furminator. You can find it at Amazon.com. Our guest columnist Wendy Nan Rees has one and she really thinks it works well.

I love my pembroke welsh corgi. She is the sweetest thing, great with kids and babies, and would always recommend them to anyone who wants a well behaved loyal dog. The only problem? What a shedder!
