-- Contributed by: Kellyi am interested in breading my male boxer i have been asked to call someone who is interested and owns 2 female boxers, my question is do i go to them or do they come to me? and is there any real concerns we should no about, i have never done this before and luv my boy i don't want to hurt him or the female what do i expect from this and how does it work?
-- Contributed by: loriHi Alison,
It's difficult to say if there's definitely a problem since there are various factors involved. It could be possible that the third heat cycle was what we call a "white" or "silent" heat. This type of cycle presents nearly no sign at all, and it's very easy to miss. A silent heat is usually not a fertile one either. Another thought is that your female could be slipping into a once a year cycle, and this would mean she'd most like have her next cycle this August. My advice is to wait until autumn, and take your female in for a veterinary exam if she hasn't had her next cycle by then.
Thanks for your question. :)

I think the best thing you can do is ask a lawyer to take a look at that contract to determine just how binding it is. That's the best way to figure out what your options are. I wish you the best of luck with your situation.
-- Contributed by: KellyMy son entered into a shady contract with dog breeder that stipulates that his dog will be returned after 2nd heat to be bred and breeder gets choice of 3 pups. He will not recieve papers of vaccination records until this happens. He has since lost interest in the dog and given it to me. I want to get this dog fixed before she goes in to heat! how binding do you think this contrast is? the vet said it is not safe to breed bulldogs before 2 years in most cases and he wants to breed her at one year. What do you think? anyone? someone told me i should report the breeder?
-- Contributed by: alleyHi,
Not every breeding results in puppies, but it will take about three weeks after the end of the heat cycle before you can have your vet examine your female for pregnancy.
I think you might find the following articles helpful for better understanding the heat cycle. It's possible that your female wasn't actually going out of heat but rather was entering the fertile portion of the cycle where she wouldn't bleed as much. If this is the case, she will likely resume heavier bleeding for a few days and then taper off.
Thanks for your question. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellymy jack russell female was in heat last week and she seemed to be over it but still allowed a male to breed with her yesterday. They were tied for 5 minutes. Is it a sure thing she is pregnant now or do all dog ties not nessesarily create pups?
-- Contributed by: Enter your name hereHi Sarah,
Personally, I'd wait one more season before breeding these two together. Although your dog is technically old enough to sire a litter, I've always prefered to put off using a new stud until he's at least a year old.
This will also give your female time to fully mature. Yes, she too is capable of delivering a litter, but she's not completely finished growing yet. She has probably also still got a bit of puppy left in her, and this might keep her from settling down with the pups the way she should.
I hope you find these suggestions helpful. Thanks for your question.
-- Contributed by: KellyHello, I have two anatolian shepherds and want to breed. Male is 7 months, and female is 1 year and 4 months. My female will be coming into her 2nd heat soon, should i breed them, or wait until they are older?
I love my dogs and do not want anything bad to happen because they are bred too early.
