Hi Wanted...
Your best option is to search locally so you can spend time getting to know dog before you decide whether he's the right pet for you. I recommend checking with local shelters and breed clubs to find rescues. Good luck with your search. :)

-- Contributed by: wanted a ... satffardshire puppyHi Kale,
While I understand your point of view in some respects, it's very important that people understand the costs that go along with dog ownership and decide whether or not they have the funds to meet those needs as they come up. We certainly can't predict everything that might happen down the road, and some things are essentials while others can be done without. Even so, it's always best to be as informed as possible when making the decision whether or not to adopt. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
-- Contributed by: KellyI have to say i have been searching for a long time now for the right dog for my home , trying to consider all things. i have taken 100 of those "right dog for me" quizzes and keep getting different answers. i dont want to perpetuate the puppy mills so i am trying to adopt one. BUT all the stuff im reading is discouraging. like the dollar amounts posted above are obviously for upper middle class people. i want a companion not a patient. lets remember that poor people can and do own dogs and that many dogs live in the streets with no human to care for them and do just fine.
-- Contributed by: KaleHi Chantelle,
Sorry, but LTK doesn't have free puppies. You're best chance of finding a free puppy is to look locally. Sometimes people put up free puppy fliers at local pet supply stores. You might also want to call a few vet offices to see if they have clients who have indicated they will give pups away just to find them good homes. Good luck. :)

-- Contributed by: nazakat abbasHello Ida's Mommie,
I'm sorry to hear about Ida's passing. I hope another canine companion will help both you and Cedar through your grief.
-- Contributed by: KellyYes I do know all this. Just a month a go I put to sleep my Beloved Ida who was allergic to Pollen with year round skin conditions costing close to $1,000 a year. I thought I was the only one feeding her, someone unknown to me was feeding her also. When I got her spayed under anistian she vomited and inhalded thus began to sufficate. The vet did all he could but I still lost her. I have had her cremeted with remains returned to me. This month I will bury her remains under a pink rodidendrum bush in my back yard. I have another nutered male dog who pines for her, Cedar even now a month later still looks for her to bring her to eat & is just beginning to drink water in my home, having drank water they together for so long. They slept together, went out together, eat, drank water and ran together. Yes I was looking for a 'Free Puppie to Good Home'. Yesterday my vet mentioned I might think about getting Him another dog because he IS SAD and is grieving. I know and except the cost of dogs. I love dogs with every breath of my lungs, beat of my heart. I am a dog trainer helping people train balance & mobility service dogs. Maybe a dog will find me or someone will give me one they believe is untrainable.

Your best option for finding a puppy companion is by looking locally. Some people run ads in the local paper when they have free puppies to give away. Although you'll have to pay an adoption fee, rescuing a dog from your local paper is usually a better choice because the fee includes the cost of spaying or neutering as well as vaccinations. These are things you have to spend on with a free puppy anyway, but they will already be taken care of before you bring your new pet home.
Thanks for being willing to open your heart and your home to a needy pet. Good luck with your search. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellyi am a senier and love animals home alot and will give it aloving home and the best food and lots of attention otherwise will be spoiled
-- Contributed by: juneHi Be Be,
I agree that not every dog owner cares for their pet in the best way possible whether or not they paid for dog. However, I don't agree that such a blanket statement can be applied to everyone that paid for a pet (or didn't pay for that matter). It all comes down to accepting personal responsibility for the dog in your care, and I believe there plenty of loving owners who do their very best to care for their pets.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
-- Contributed by: KellyIn my opion even when people pay they still don't do what they are suppose to for the animals .It's all about having a good heart. Some people can sense that.My dog who is now 3years old and was a baby when I received her from a stranger, was free and she is very well taken care of and healthy .Money is the root to all evil. Have a Heart.
-- Contributed by: be beHi Katrina,
It's always best to search your local area. Try contacting kennel clubs, breed rescue organizations and animal shelters. I'm sure there's a dog just waiting for your to give it a loving home. Good luck with your search. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellyhi i would like to have a girl labrador about 4 months or 1 year old many thanks katrina
-- Contributed by: katrinaHi Free Dogs?,
All good points. They illustrate the points of this article. :)
-- Contributed by: KellyWhat kinda of a dog should you get for free? They all give love unconditionally-thats worth something, they all need to see a vet routinely-that's going to cost a ton if you get what they need (heart guard, frontline), and colars, bowls, clothing, beds or pillows, wow! thats NOT free at all now is it. I have a little guy who gets ill if he doesn't eat puppy food and vitamins. That cost a little more. And these little designer dogs have lots of health issues. Little tea cup dogs most generally are dogs with diabetic issues. I am Bre-I own one large dog and two bishon/poos, and two poodles all four are little dogs. I have a huge vet bill all the time and don't even mind. I paid $2500.00 for my smallest dog to have her back legs fixed-why because I made this commitment to love her as my family. I cannot stand it when someone wants a dog for property or free. There is no such thing as a free dog. If you want to make a family pet...as part of your family there will always be a cost. If you cannot pay whatever comes your way then you should buy a plant all it needs is water. We shoukld never see all these shows on tv about recueing dogs. Why can't people be more responsible they are live breathing animals. I sure love my dogs and not just for now. I considered my age when I got my pets, my money situation, and my level of exercise afforded to them. I hope you buy your dog responsibly. I don't mean so sound like a free puppy hater...but think before you buy! They deserve more than we responsible owners give.
-- Contributed by: free dogs?Hi Greg,
I'm not sure which website you are referring to, but LTK doesn't offer pets, we just try to provide helpful information about them.
When looking for a free puppy, it's always best to search locally. I suggest checking out the bulletin board at feed stores or watching for adds in your local newspaper. The problem with an online search is that you will most likely incur shipping expenses. Also, it's difficult to really know who you're dealing with. Better to visit puppies in your local area. Good luck with your search. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellywould u help me find a real free puppie site, this site says free BUT they wont to sell or the phones numbers are hotels or some buisness...thanks
-- Contributed by: helpis there any dogs that need a good loving and caring home.i will take one .it needs to be housetrained and be in months old.
-- Contributed by: ashleyHi Maria,
My town's newspaper has a pet section and sometimes people offer free puppies there. Maybe your newspaper does too. Also, check the bulletin boards at pet supply stores. You'll sometimes find free puppies listed there. Good luck with your search. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellyi need a free puppy for my kids that they can love
-- Contributed by: MariaHi Mr. Murphy, and welcome to the site.
Finding a free Bulldog puppy will be a challenge because these puppies are so expensive. That's because Bulldogs generally have a difficult time giving birth due to the size of the puppies' heads. This usually results in the need for a C-section, which can be quite expensive.
Although you won't likely find a pup of this breed for free, it may be a good idea to search for Bulldog rescue shelters. I'm sure there are probably several that could be found with an Internet search. Rescues usually charge a nominal adoption fee that covers spaying/neutering, vaccinations, food and shelter, but it will be far less than the cost of purchasing a pup. This may be your best opportunity to own a Bulldog, and you'd be giving a needy pet a home.
Good luck with your search, I hope it's a success!
-- Contributed by: KellyI'm lookink 4 a free bulldog puppy 2 love.I'm 36yrs old and never had the chance 2 own 1.I will give it a very good home.
-- Contributed by: Mr.Koumonie MurphyHi Marcus,
Good luck with your search!
-- Contributed by: Kellyi cant waite to find my new puppy!
-- Contributed by: marcus lynn knoxHi Stephen,
You're wise to look for a puppy in this situation because it's easier to accustom a dog to cats and children at a young age.
I would suggest scouting your local animal shelter to see what kind of puppies they might have up for adoption. The pet section of many newspapers often includes adds for free puppies. Pet supply stores also allow customers to post notices on bulletin boards. These are all good places to check. I tend to recommend looking for a pup locally because that way you can get to know the puppy before you commit to caring for it. You can see how it interacts with the children and other pets before you decide whether it's the right companion for your family or if you should continue looking.
Thanks for sharing your situation, and good luck with your search. I'm sure there's a wonderful puppy just waiting for you. :)
-- Contributed by: Kellyi am looking for a small dog thats good with cats and children spanials or somthing along them lines. A puppy would be nice.
-- Contributed by: stephen eagletonHi Dee,
That is discouraging. Have you tried more than one shelter? You might also want to check your local newspaper for free puppy ads.
-- Contributed by: Kellyi cant rehome a pup from a shelter because i have children under 12 how stupid, when the home i have to offer is loving tro animals-- Contributed by: dee
Hi Seashello,
I think it's great that you want to adopt a needy puppy. You might have good luck checking your local newspaper or pet supply store for bulletins. Looking locally will save you on transportation costs to bring the puppy home, and then you can use what you might have spent on puppy supplies.
Good luck in your search!
-- Contributed by: KellyI think being a person who is looking for a pet small puppy that is, that if someone wants to give away a free puppy/dog then thats their right to do so. People like me dont want to pay alot of $ money for a dog and spend more to spoil them rotten. I love small dogs so if anyone wants/needs to find a loving home for their pet, I have 2 children who would love to be surprised by a new member to the family on their birthdays that are comming up shortly.
-- Contributed by: Enter your name hereHi Lisa,
I think it's wonderful that you want to adopt a needy dog. Your best option is to check your local shelters and newspaper when looking for a dog to adopt. This way you can be sure whether the animal is healthy as well as whether it has a good temperament that will be safe around your children.
Thanks for visiting the site, and best of luck with your search. :)
-- Contributed by: KellyI had my siberian husky stolen and am looking for a lifetime companion I have 4 children who are eager to love and play with a furry friend we have a sister who worked for a vet here in Boise Id. we know what it takes to raise and care for our dogs please consider us to adopt
-- Contributed by: lisaHi Jessica,
I'm totally with you on the fact that every dog is worthy of being loved. However, it is important to consider the cost of dog ownership before you take a pet in. I receive a lot of questions from concerned owners who need help, but can't afford to take their dog to a vet. Sometimes there are ways to see a pet through an illness at home, but sometimes you really need a professional. For this reason it's best to think about the costs and whether you'll be able to meet them.
Thanks for your comment. :)
-- Contributed by: KellyI did not pay to adopt my dog. He was found on the side of a major interstate, and I fell in love with him from the first time I saw him. I do not believe the price or cost matters, you will love them no matter what if you truly wanted a pet.
-- Contributed by: jessicaHi Ardarius,
Why not consider an adoption innstead? It won't be free, but the cost of spaying/neutering is usually included and you don't have to deal with the surgical recovery yourself. There are many wonderful and worthy canine in shelters just waiting for a family. Why not at least check out this option.
Thanks for sharing your situation.
-- Contributed by: Kellyeveryone in my home would love a pup but some prices are too much to even buy one
-- Contributed by: ardarius williamsHi JaCarla,
Some people do give dogs away for free, but as you can see from the article above, their are a lot of expenses involved in caring for one. If you're looking to adopt a free puppy, the best place to look is your local newspaper.
Good luck!
