in case yall missed it, I’m 99% sure my Pika is pregnant. her boobs grew by the hour today it seemed. In the past week, she has become VERY hyper. Most times, she is happy to watch me play fetch with Tiger or whatever and she will just lay around until someone calls her. Right now, she is all up in everyone’s business including Tiger’s. In my house, Tiger is the alpha. Pika is not dominant at all. When she was in heat, the degree of Tiger’s flirting was downright hilarious. If I was there to make sure he didnt mount her I would let them spend a few min together here and there because loneliness is good for noone. Anyway, due to Pika’s hyper nature, and Tiger being his usual hyper dominant, in the middle of everything, owns everything is the king of the house at 4 pounds, there is A LOT more rough housing going on. A lot of it is normal stuff, biting at the neck, grabbing the ears, etc. But sometimes it goes a little further. I go to pick up pika and he hugs her neck in his paws and starts humping again (frisky fella) and he like buries her under him and i have to pluck his paws off her and lift him up. since im pretty sure she has a pack of buns in the oven, should i worry about him hurting her? if so, how the heck do i prevent that? i mean is there a way other than keeping them separated for the next 5-6 weeks? I dont know how well her body is designed to protect the babies. I know women can fall and break and arm with no harm to the baby but i read somewhere that even palpating the stomach can be hurtful. if thats so i would think tiger pushing her into the wall and whatnot would be harmful also. what do yall think? and ty in advance. |

Hi Stacy, Overall, that uterus is fairly well cushioned. You don’t want Tiger to jump on Pika’s belly, and you don’t really want Pike jumping off the furniture, etc. It’s alright to let the dogs play, and Pika will put Tiger in his place once she begins to feel the full effects of her pregnancy. In the mean time, just play referee as needed, and you can take turns confining one dog or the other when they need a break. |
